MUMBAI, 02 July, 2025: Maya Academy of Advanced Creativity (MAAC), a premiere institute and pioneer in high-end 3D animation, Gaming & VFX training, organised a special webinar for its students, giving them an exclusive and in-depth understanding of the world of game design, virtual environments, storytelling and beyond. Over 5000 students from MAAC’s centres across India attended the webinar online. The event is part of MAAC’s ongoing initiative called Behind the Screens, which aims to provide real-world industry exposure to its students, setting a new benchmark by leveraging strong industry ties to prepare students for successful careers in the growing Media & Entertainment industry.
The webinar was presented by Mr. Mayur Puri, a leading Bollywood director, film writer, lyricist, and actor, and live streamed across 120 MAAC centres in India. Mr. Mayur Puri has donned many hats over his decade long Bollywood career as director, film writer, lyricist and actor, but he primarily is and always remain a passionate storyteller at heart—a role he says he would never grow out of. Mayur is a leading game changer responsible for the content localisation, trans-creation and adaptations of various Hollywood films into Hindi translated blockbusters. He is the apt example of a small-town boy from Ahmedabad, who made it big in Bollywood through sheer conviction and hard work.
He works with renowned global studios like Disney and Warner Brothers to recreate their billion-dollar cinematic experiences into regional translations better suited for the Hindi speaking Indian audience. The Lion King (2019), Avengers: End Game (2019), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Incredibles 2, Moana, Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, Finding Dory are few films that have reached the hearts of millions of Indian masses, through his contribution. Mayur's first commissioned script was ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002)’. Mayur was credited for the screenplay of the film and along with director Sanjay Gadhvi, whom he worked with in Yash Raj Films. He was also the Associate Director for the Bollywood blockbuster – Dhoom (2004). The turning point as a film writer was marked by the Shahrukh Khan starrer and Farah Khan's directorial debut Om Shanti Om (2007).
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sandip Weling, Chief Business Officer, Global Retail, Aptech Limited, and Brand Custodian, MAAC, said, “At MAAC, we rally behind community-led platforms such as Behind the Screens that play a crucial role in skilling our students to prepare them for their careers in Media & Entertainment. The session by Mr. Mayur Puri offered pivotal industry exposure for our students, helping to bridge the gap between their academic training and the demands of today’s world. Our students found immense value in her session as they learnt to bridge the crucial gaps between narrative building and then executing that vision catering to the viewers, that Mr. Mayur specialises in. I extend our gratitude to Mr. Mayur to taking the time out and engaging with our students, and we look forward to hosting more such experiences with him in the future!”
Highlighting the impact of this workshop, Mr. Mayur Puri, shared, "It was a pleasure to share insights into the filmmaking and entertainment industry with the students of MAAC. The conversation around this industry's growth and potential, emerging opportunities, and what the future might hold for its aspirants was genuinely exciting. It is always good to hear the thoughts of young aspirants on the world of filmmaking and script writing, and the students of MAAC were very engaging when we discussed emerging ideas of storytelling and screenplay formation. I'm looking forward to seeing how these future professionals shape the space in the years to come.”
With the M&E industry poised for significant growth, MAAC’s continued efforts to provide such platforms to students ensures they are well-prepared for future opportunities in the global media landscape. The webinar not only showcased MAAC’s commitment to skill-building but is also aligned with the government's vision of fostering a self-reliant India (Viksit Bharat). The real-world exposure and professional insights shared during the event strengthened the trust in MAAC's commitment to inspiring future industry leaders.
