The Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India, Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction & ReadyToBeMom.com unveils an extensive IVF Awareness & Education Programme for World IVF Day on July 25th in India.

Mumbai, July 2024: This initiative aims to empower gynaecologists with the latest advancements in IVF through a webinar conducted by fertility experts. Simultaneously, a multimedia awareness campaign also will be rolled out to educate the to-be-parents and tackle their hesitancy & inform them about assisted reproduction options.

The programme addresses the escalating issue of infertility in India. Statistics indicate that approximately 28 million Indians face infertility challenges, yet only about 1% seek timely medical advice. Few of the factors attributed to the high infertility rates are increased age, delayed pregnancy & career priorities. Despite remarkable advancements in assisted reproduction, awareness gaps and hesitancy remain significant hurdles

This programme includes a survey among practising gynaecologists to tailor educational content on assisted reproduction advancements, culminating in a specialized webinar and a follow-up informational brochure. In the public awareness segment, the primary mission of this programme is to address critical gaps in women's health in India, particularly in preventive care & preconception counselling. This initiative seeks to empower first-time mothers with doctor-previewed pregnancy care information, thereby reducing pregnancy risks and enhancing maternal health outcomes. It will kick off with a "Doctor Bytes" Campaign on Radio FM channels, encouraging audience participation through crowdsourced questions on digital platforms. Responses will be shared via video and audio podcasts, followed by a comprehensive mobile campaign on YouTube and Instagram over a 4-week period. The programme is in collaboration with the India Society of Assisted Reproduction, Maharashtra Chapter of ISAR, and FOGSI Young Talent Promotion Committee & Readytobemom.com.

Dr. Rohan Palshetkar, a prominent Obstetrician, Gynaecologist & Chairperson of The Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India said “On this auspicious occasion of World IVF Day, we take immense pride in ushering hope to fight Infertility. Through this dedicated programme, we aim to debunk multiple misconceptions around IVF that range from it being a painful process with a low guaranteed success rate etc. Over the years there have been remarkable breakthroughs in assisted reproductive techniques. Though India has seen a decent rise in the number of patients opting for these treatments, the numbers are still abysmally low. This programme will educate the gynaecologists & also create awareness among couples facing fertility challenges by providing a supportive environment for them to embrace the joys of parenthood”

ReadyToBeMom.com is a dedicated platform for preconception counselling, pregnancy care, and postpartum support. It aims to foster dialogues on infertility at multiple levels. Mr. Shripad Kulkarni, the Founder added “India still has a special stigma attached to couples who don’t have kids after a few years of marriage & IVF being a new medical stream has its own apprehensions & reservations in terms of perception. Understanding the IVF process and knowing what to expect at each stage can alleviate anxiety & empower one to make an informed decision. Adhering to these guidelines can help prove the overall success rate and ensure a smoother experience for the individuals undergoing this treatment
