Wockhardt Hospital - Mumbai Central launches Breast Clinic

~all services under one roof ~

Mumbai, 22nd October 2021: On World Breast Cancer Awareness month Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai Central launches breast clinic to give breast care treatment under one roof.  This clinic will also provide world class treatment at affordable cost. This breast clinic will help women with all breasts related issues like breast cancer, breast reconstructive surgeries, lesions, pain, lumps (Malignant or Benign), by providing rapid and accurate diagnosis in one visit.

Speaking to Dr. Boman Dhabhar, Senior Onco Physician, Wockhardt Hospital says, “Breast cancer if treated at an early stage can go into curative phase. Also, this is one cancer which can be screened easily. Women are unaware of breast cancer, the symptoms and diagnosis. These cancer cells grow at a rapid pace and affect the other parts of our body too. Urban population is more prone to breast cancer. As compared to women the breast cancer prevalence in men is much less. With the launch of breast clinic under one roof, we aim to spread awareness among men and women for breast care and treatment.”

Dr.  Shilpa Tatake, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospital says, “Understanding the emotional and mental trauma women have to go through, incase of any complications related to Breasts, we decided to provide a holistic solution under one roof.  Besides cancer detection and treatment, we will also provide cosmetic procedures at the clinic. A multi- disciplinary team of doctors will give the most effective treatment, diagnosis, and counselling to the patient. While women need to be aware of the changes they see and feel about their breasts, men too need to be more aware so that they are able to coerce women for early treatment.”

As per SP, Maharashtra State Security Corporation, Ms. Ashwini Sanap a breast cancer survivor “Women do suffer physically and mentally once diagnosed.  Not only the women but the entire family suffers, during these times the support from the doctors and the entire staff is extremely important.  The family supports is equally important to ensure that the treatment is taken on time.  This support keeps women mentally strong due to this motivation. I am thankful to Wockhardt Hospital – Mumbai Central for this clinic and awareness that they are creating.  They say prevention is better than cure, but what prevention is to be taken and what cure is to be taken is what the doctors can always guide the patients on as I am not an expert.  I would request all women to listen to their own body and take care of themselves.”

According to WHO, in 2020, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 685000 deaths globally. As of the women, by the end of 2020, there were 7.8 million women alive who were diagnosed with breast cancer in the past 5 years, making it the world’s most prevalent cancer. Also, the women who have surgery as part of their breast cancer treatment opt for breast reconstruction surgery to rebuild the shape of the breast.

Our versatile team of doctors’ lead by Dr Meghal Sanghvi, Surgical Oncologist and Dr Shradha Deshpande, Cosmetic Surgeon with their experience and expertise, will be able to provide quick solution to any kind of breast related queries.
