Travelling through time, Zia is bringing her mystery to a secret hideaway – ZLB 23 at The Leela Palace Bengaluru with an exclusive and unparalleled experience, waiting to be discovered.
Standing as its protector for ages, her tale drives the story of ZLB 23 and is key to understanding this space. The hideout’s surreal decor and theatrical concoctions evoke an absinthe dream. With its hidden entrance, vintage décor and speakeasy style, ZLB 23 transports guests back in time to the era of Prohibition. This urbane space reveals an atmosphere of transcendental glamour where gatherings are held over remarkable dining, prohibition cocktails and magnetic music.
The small vault area unfolds onto the main space through heavy velvet curtains, giving a glimpse of glamour through dark hardwood floors, intricately laced with florals, crystal chandeliers and brass work. The large mirrors on the walls create reflections of space, adding to the element of mystery. What stands out effortlessly is the Sabyasachi charm.
Much of the upholstery and fabrics which enliven the space are from the stunning fabrics range of Sabyasachi for Nilaya by Asian Paints. The Barn Red velvet drape at the entrance that spices up the mood is from the Bakshi collection of PURE-Royale by Asian Paints. An extension of its décor offerings that go beyond walls to invigorate the space in between, the collection draws from designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s travels over the past two decades. The exceptional heavy motif velvets mixed with solids, leather and chesterfield style furniture reflect this grand aesthetic taken from time.
The place offers fabled food, curated to reveal the lost recipes from the East. You’ll find that the ingredients, measurements, and methods unite to tell a flavourful narrative buried in time. The skilled mixologists have crafted a menu of prohibition cocktails, each with its own unique flavour and story. These might sound classic but are futuristic in taste, look and sense such as the Paleman, inspired by the well-known Halloween monster, or Kyoto Sunrise which pays homage to the Land of the Rising Sun. And for those who want a taste of the good life, the menu also features a selection of rare and premium spirits.
