MUMBAI-- Mumbai's Tvesha Jain clinched a bronze medal in the Under-7 Girls' National Chess Championship held in Ahmedabad recently. She has achieved this success by beating many ranked players and is being appreciated everywhere.
More than hundred players from 23 states participated in this tournament. It also included few players who had previously represented the group at the international level. That is why this year's competition was very challenging. Tvesha earned eight and a half points in eleven rounds. Her victory over Ameya Aggarwal of Telangana in the sixth round was considered the surprise victory of the tournament. Tvesha won the said match after a four-hour battle. Tvesha needed a win in the final round to win a medal. In this round, her opponent was Sanskriti Yadav (ELO 1256) of Uttar Pradesh. Tvesha managed to coordinate patience, perseverance and determination till the end and won the match. This victory put her name on the bronze medal. Although the competition was challenging, she had done rigorous practice for this competition. That is why she was sure of getting a medal before the start of the tournament.
Tvesha started playing chess when she was just three and a half years old. She got the initial guidance of chess from her father Ashish and grandfather Ramesh who had played competitive Chess. After that she is getting guidance from senior coach Mr. Veeresh Tamireddy. She practices for four to five hours every day. Her practice includes competitive tactics, solving various Chess puzzles, yoga and meditation. She is studying in Green Lawns School, Mumbai. She is getting a lot of support from the school for this sport.
She always plays battles keeping in mind that attack is the best defense. Be it studies or Chess tactics, she learns everything in a short time because of her quick comprehension and solid grasping power. Tvesha has so far achieved in the top five ranks at many competitions organized at the state and national level. Multiple world champion Magnus Carlsen is her role model and she aspires to achieve international success like him. She is ready to work hard for that by sacrificing all many things.
