Bengaluru, 18th August 2026: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the successful culmination of Environment Month 2026, organized under the theme "Move Towards Climate Positive Company through Resource Recycling." The month-long initiative engaged over 13,600 employees, families, suppliers, dealers, logistics partners, and communities across the value chain, translating environmental awareness into quantifiable sustainability outcomes and reinforcing TKM's commitment to the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.
Through collaborative efforts across TKM operations, suppliers and dealer partners, Environment Month initiatives delivered measurable environmental outcomes, reinforcing our shared commitment towards carbon neutrality, circular economy and resource conservation.
- CO₂ Emissions Reduction: Over 3,005 tonnes (895 tonnes at TKM + 2,110 tonnes across suppliers)
- Water Savings: Approximately 16,806 m³/KL (518 m³ at TKM + 16,288 KL across suppliers)
- Waste Reduction: Over 231 tonnes of waste reduction (988 kg at TKM + 219 tonnes at suppliers + 11.7 tonnes plastic and 5.3 tonnes paper reduction at dealers)
- Energy Savings: 255 MWh of electricity savings achieved across the dealer network
- VOC Emission Reduction: 3.19 g/m² reduction through manufacturing process improvements at TKM
The Employee engagement formed the backbone of the initiative, with over 1,700 employees participating in eco-driving initiatives promoting fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, while 1,464 participants engaged in eco-quizzes strengthening environmental awareness. Community plantation drives resulted in over 89,000 saplings planted, contributing to biodiversity enhancement and long-term carbon sequestration. Environmental drawing competitions inspired over 1,500 participants from employee families, fostering sustainability consciousness across generations and embedding environmental responsibility within communities.
A major highlight was "Hasiru Santhe," TKM's eco-exhibition featuring 27+ stalls and engaging over 3,000 stakeholders. The exhibition showcased practical sustainability solutions including organic food products, nature-based cosmetics, waste-to-wealth innovations, smart energy solutions for households, and energy-efficient technologies. The exhibition demonstrated innovative circular economy initiatives, including cotton waste converted into felt material, copper waste reused in tyre valve applications, and corrugated paper waste transformed into new packaging materials. Family members of TKM employees actively embraced sustainable practices including household composting, bio-enzyme preparation, kitchen gardening, and waste-to-resource projects, embedding environmental actions within communities and fostering a culture of resource conservation beyond the workplace.
The introduction of Compressed Biogas (CBG) as a green cooking fuel alternative received special recognition for its significant environmental impact, with an estimated reduction of 980 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, marking a substantial milestone in TKM's decarbonization journey. The month culminated with a recognition and awards ceremony led by TKM Top Management, celebrating outstanding sustainability contributions from employees, families, suppliers, dealers, and value-chain partners.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. B. Padmanabha, Senior Executive Vice President and Director, Manufacturing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "Environment Month 2026 demonstrated that sustainability thrives through collective action and shared responsibility across the entire value chain. The measurable outcomes we achieved—from carbon reductions to waste elimination—prove that when employees, families, suppliers, and communities align around environmental commitment, transformation is possible. This month was not just about awareness; it was about embedding circular thinking and resource consciousness into how we operate and live."
