Teenager Shubham Sangale will draw from his experience of bowling to star Indian cricketers at nets to overcome the pressures of playing in front of live TV and spectators for Chennai Singams in the popular Indian Street Premier League (ISPL).

Singams, semifinalists last season, will take on Falcon Risers Hyderabad on January 27 at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane in their opening fixture of the 21-day-long season 2 of the T10 tennis ball cricket league which will run between January 26 and February 15.

“I’ve bowled to Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Ishan Kishan at the MCA-Bandra Kurla Complex nets,” said 18-year-old fast-medium bowler Sangale, who trained under renowned coach Dinesh Lad at the Swami Vivekanand School where he was part of the Giles Shield (Mumbai Cricket Association U-14 schools’ tournament) winning team.

Currently in class XII at Thakur College, Kandivali, Sangale represents his college in cricket ball tournaments and his locality teams in competitive tennis ball cricket.

Asked which is his most memorable tennis ball cricket performance, Sangale, who was acquired by Singams for INR 3 lakh, said, “I’d say the four wickets I took in two overs conceding 10-12 runs in an all-India prize money tournament that was held recently in Charkop, Kandivali. We won that game.”

Sangale will be making his ISPL debut. “I’m thrilled and look forward to the experience. It is a reflection of the popularity of tennis ball cricket in the country and the sheer quality of tennis ball cricket on view that the ISPL has become a game-changer within a year,” he said.
