122 RUNNERS to celebrate their birthday at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025
This year, 122 runners will celebrate their birthdays by participating in different categories of the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025. Among them are 82 men and 40 women, who will mark their special day by running on the vibrant roads of Mumbai, weaving their personal stories into the spirit of the marathon.

Inspector RPF Shri Ashok Kumar Shukla to run Half Marathon at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025
Inspector RPF Shri Ashok Kumar Shukla, IPS currently posted at the EMU Workshop in Mahalaxmi – Mumbai Central, exemplifies dedication and resilience. At 57 years old, Ashok has participated in various running events across Mumbai from 2022 to 2024, earning an impressive 34 medals. A true star of the RPF, his unwavering determination and hard work continue to defy age, proving that there are no limits to what one can achieve.
This year Shri Ashok Kumar Shukla will be running Half Marathon at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025.
Ketan Abhonkar – Attempting a National Joggling Record at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025
The upcoming Tata Mumbai Marathon, scheduled for 19th January 2025, is set to host an extraordinary moment as Pune’s renowned marathoner and joggling enthusiast, Ketan Abhonkar, gears up to attempt a National Joggling Record. Known for his endurance and creativity, Abhonkar will showcase the sport of joggling, where participants run while juggling three balls continuously, a rare and challenging combination of physical and mental skill.
The upcoming Tata Mumbai Marathon, scheduled for 19th January 2025, is set to feature a truly extraordinary moment as Pune’s celebrated marathoner and joggling enthusiast, Ketan Abhonkar, gears up to attempt a National Joggling Record. Known for his unique blend of endurance and creativity, Abhonkar will bring joggling—running while juggling three balls continuously—to the forefront, showcasing an incredible combination of physical and mental skill.
Joggling, the art of running while juggling three balls, requires exceptional coordination, focus, and endurance. Abhonkar, who has previously completed numerous prestigious races like the Tata Mumbai Half Marathon, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, Satara Hill Half Marathon, Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata and Pune International Marathon, is a prominent advocate for joggling in India.
This year, at TMM 2025, he will attempt joggling over the full marathon distance of 42.195 km, marking his first such endeavor at the event. His participation is expected to add an exciting and inspiring dimension to the marathon, drawing attention from spectators and fellow participants alike.
In 2024, Abhonkar impressed audiences by completing the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon and Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata while joggling. He is currently on track to achieve the Procam Slam, with plans to complete the TMM 2025 and the TCS World 10K Bengaluru 2025.
Adding to his accolades, Abhonkar was awarded the prestigious "Joggler of the Year 2024" title by the global Joggler’s World community.
Durgesh & Khushboo duo to run full marathon at Tata Mumbai Marathon
They are part of Tata Mumbai Marathon Legends Club
Durgesh was the youngest to complete 10 full Mumbai Marathons back in 2017. With over 15 years of dedication, he holds one of the longest dual continuous running streaks at India’s largest full marathon (Mumbai) and half marathon (Delhi).
And what could be better than having a competition right at home? Quite literally! Starting in 2010, his wife, Khushboo, has matched him stride for stride—not just in Mumbai (10+ full marathons) and Delhi (12+ half marathons) but also in ultra-runs across the globe.
Beyond being TMM legends, the couple also excels professionally. Durgesh, an IIT Bombay-IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, holds a leadership position at Reliance Industries, while Khushboo, an IIT Kanpur-IIM Calcutta graduate, is a leader at the Tata Group.
Their journey began with a simple desire to break free from the rat race. Over the years, their reasons for running have evolved with life’s milestones—student life, first jobs, life as traveling consultants, bachelorhood, first dates, courtship, marriage, and eventually parenthood.
Looking ahead, this power couple is eager to continue running together for decades to come, inspiring many with their story of resilience, passion, and togetherness.
227 Runners part of the Prestigious Tata Mumbai Marathon Legends Club
The Tata Mumbai Marathon Legends Club unites all accomplished runners who have participated in the Mumbai Marathon 10 times or more, with all Full Marathon completions up to the 20th Edition of TMM.
Those who complete their 10th Marathon at the 20th or the subsequent editions will be added to the Club subject to its rules and regulations. The dedication and passion for running truly set these runners apart. This exclusive group of committed runners have achieved a significant milestone worthy of recognition. Their continuous participation serves as an inspiration and role model for other runners. These members will become Running Ambassadors in the active living Community, giving us their precious feedback on runners’ aspirations and suggestions.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon Legends Club boasts 227 members, including 81 across India. For the 20th edition, 146 Mumbai runners of the Legends Club are set to participate in the full marathon.
Among the Legends, there are 8 women—5 local and 3 outstation runners.
Notably, Parmesh Ohri, aged 32, is the youngest local runner, having completed 12 marathons, while Kishlay Vatsyayan, aged 36, is the youngest outstation runner in the Legends Club. The oldest Full Marathoner in TMM Legend’s Club is 71-year-old Ashok Joshi from Pune, participating in his 12th marathon.
In the women's category, Mumbai's Neepa Sheth and Vineeta Singh have completed 15 and 13 marathons, respectively. Additionally, Mumbai's Shibani Gharat, Kranti Salvi, and Khushboo Vaish, along with Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar's Charusheela Deshmukh, Gurgaon's Aparna Choudhary, and Bengaluru's Nirupama Singh, have each completed 10 marathons.
In the landmark 20th edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon - Girish Mallya, Mahesh Salvi, and Raj Vadgama from Mumbai, along with Hirendra Khuranai from Henstedt-Ulzburg, will be running their 20th marathon. Meanwhile, Madhur Kotharay and Rajesh Tagore from Mumbai will join Mukesh Singh from Bengaluru in running their 19th marathon at Tata Mumbai Marathon.

1,831 CXOs to run at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025
The Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025, a World Athletics Gold Label Race, will celebrate its landmark 20th edition with an impressive participation of 1,831 CXOs competing across various categories. 1806 runners hail from India, while 25 represent 10 different countries.
This year will witness 270 female CXOs and 1,561 male CXOs.
The event will feature 412 participants in the Marathon, 662 in the Half Marathon, 281 in the Open 10K, 5 in the Senior Citizen Run, 1 in the Champion with Disability category, and 470 in the Dream Run.

This year 31 Pacer running in three different categories - Full Marathon will have 15 pacers, Half Marathon 09 and 10K will have 07. This year there are 16 men and 15 women pacers running in TMM 2025.

Half Marathon
Sagar Patil: Once a security guard, Sagar has transformed his life and is now a PT instructor at a DSB International School. Witnessing the school staff and parents participate in the Mumbai Marathon and celebrate their victories during school assemblies inspired him deeply. Parent Kranti Salvi extended her guidance and support, helping him to train for longer distances and encouraging him to join the school team for the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km walk.
Over the years, running has become a transformative force in his life. He has competed in numerous events, securing podium finishes in several. He achieved 4th position in his highly competitive age group at the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). Since starting full marathon distances at TMM 2018, he completed three full marathons, two Tata Ultra 50Ks, nineteen 10K races, and fifteen half-marathons.
