Capital India celebrates Independence Day by empowering the

transgender & specially-abled communities

Mumbai, 16th August 2021: As we celebrated 75 years of India’s freedom, there are still communities around us who remain far away from being free. These communities are hardly seen in our day to day lives and they have created their own safe spaces where they are able breathe freely without any judgements and fear. To celebrate the inclusive freedom in real sense Capital India with its CSR arm Atulya Foundation conducted Tree plantation with Transgender and Specially-abled communities in Noida and Mumbai. 75 saplings were planted in each location to mark the 75 years of independence and the foundation has taken the responsibility to prevent & maintain the plants until they are self-sustainable.

Capital India is a BSE listed India-focused; Technology enabled SME Finance Platform. Some of their business include Capital India Finance Limited, Capital India Home Loans, Remitx, Rapipay, Rapimoney and Credenc.

In Noida saplings were planted with transgender community along with ‘Give me Trees’ trust in Sorkha village of Noida. Karishma, Capital India volunteer in the drive shared, “This was a one of kind experience as tree plantation was something I have not done in the past but the interaction with transgenders have made it special and memorable.” She further shared, “there was sense of hesitation to meet the community members because of the preconceived notions but once the interaction started with the transgenders of Basera Smajaik Sansthan it was just like meeting any other person.”

The similar kind of feedback was shared by volunteers in the Mumbai plantation drive. Amit, volunteer of Mumbai plantation drive quoted “As I saw the struggles faced by the people with physical and mental disability, I released the problems in our lives are so small and real struggle lies within communities like these. I am happy to be part of the drive and those who missed surely missed an experience of a lifetime”

The tree plantation drive in Mumbai was organized with Sangopita NGO which is a shelter home for people with special needs.  Saplings were planted by the Capital India volunteers along with special needs community members in Mumbai.

The plantation drive with these communities was a sincere effort by the organization to create sense of inclusion among its employees and the community members.

Apart from the tree plantation drive, Atulya foundation signed MOU with Say Trees to plant 1000 trees in a village of Haryana over a period of 3 years with the farmers to provide them extra source of income and on natural farming.
